Get a clear fillable ornament...

 Have a friend attention you lot detect trivial things to position inside...

 Lego, button, security pin, marbles...that form of thing...

 Then add together approximately plastic pellets.
It looks similar snow...and it's fun to search to detect the treasures!

 Hang it on the tree alongside a ribbon!
You could include a tag on the ribbon letting your
trivial finder know what to spy next!
